Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard calls for Shropshire hospital trust to be placed into special measures
Wrekin MP Mark Pritchard has called for the trust running Shropshire's two main hospitals to be put into special measures.
It comes after he held an emergency meeting with Simon Wright, chief executive of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, this morning over the decision to close Telford's A&E overnight.
Mr Pritchard says he is calling for the trust to be put into special measures following a series of “ongoing underperformance issues and grave concerns about the Future Fit programme”.
It follows a similar call from Telford MP Lucy Allan.
Mr Pritchard said: “I am calling for an improvement director from the regional NHS to be put in place to help support the trust and put things right that are currently wrong."

Councillor Andrew Eade, Telford & Wrekin Conservative group leader, also says he has "huge concerns" over a wide range of issues concerning the performance of the county's hospitals, maternity provision and the Future Fit process.
He said: "It is now time to get the regional NHS involved."
The Future Fit programme aims to shake-up hospital services in Shropshire and recommends there should be one emergency centre in the county.
A public consultation on the plans ended earlier this month and a decision is expected to be made by February.
