Sharon Davies’s daughter Tilly, and her friend Tessa Evans joined St John Ambulance aged 13 and 12 respectively, and have been going to weekly training sessions in Oswestry.

However, on a recent walk to a session, they encountered a real life situation and had to think on their feet.

As they were walking a young boy fell off his bike, dislocating his shoulder, and hurting his wrist and hip.

The pair called an ambulance, put the boy in a recovery position and calmed him down.

Proud

They believed he had a dislocated shoulder, and that was confirmed when the ambulance service arrived at the scene.

Sharon was proud of the pair, and said: “I am so proud they were able to think on their feet.

“It was a nice thing to do, to help the boy and they could put into practice things that they had learned at the sessions.

“Soon they will be taken out with St John to various different events.”

She hopes the story of the other two helping the youngster will inspire others to join the service.

She added: “It would be lovely to see more youngsters getting involved.

“I am hoping their story will be able to help more youngsters to join.”
