New outdoor exercise equipment comes to Market Drayton park
Market Drayton has a new set of outdoor exercise equipment, with more to come.
The new machines in the park off Frogmore Road were given a trial run by Market Drayton Town Councillor Roy Aldcroft.
He said the equipment, funded by the town council, would hopefully be the first of several throughout the town's green spaces.
Councillor Aldcroft said the play park off the Dalelands estate could be next in line for new equipment, with revamp of the park hopefully to come next summer.
"It is hoped that mums and dads will be able to watch the children and exercise at the same times," he said.
"I've tried them and they are not too difficult but they can get a bit tiring after the first hour.
"The machines will hopefully get a lot of use and be worth the investment.
"This sort of thing could even help with mental health too. You can get away from the four walls, get out and get active, and maybe meet up with others for a bit of a chat.
"Whether it's teenagers or adults, hopefully it helps and people are crying out for more of this equipment in the town."
