Council chief in pledge on Telford A&E night closure
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Shaun Davies has said the authority will continue to do everything in its power to stop the overnight closure of the Princess Royal Hospital.
In a meeting of the authority's cabinet on Thursday evening, councillor Davies updated members on the situation surrounding the potential closure between 8pm and 8am.
The council is exploring avenues to halt the closure, and 23,000 people have no signed a petition against it, with the campaign labelled the biggest ever run by the authority.
Councillor Davies said: "We will do everything in power to stop this closure.

"If we can't stop it we need to ensure we can look in the mirror and say that we have done our very best to stop it happening.
"There is a march on November 4 and 23,000 people have signed the petition, this is the biggest ever campaign by this council."
Councillor Davies also appealed to the five Conservative MPs in the county to push for a government-led rescue plan to stop the closure from happening.
He also hit out at health secretary Matt Hancock for monitoring the situation, and called for him to act.
It comes after the leader and health bosses met with the Indian consulate in Birmingham in a bid to recruit doctors from India to prevent the closure.
