Dr Julian Povey, chair of Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said plans are in the pipeline for health commissioners to hold a joint board meeting at Harper Adams University in Newport.

It will see members of Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups' governance boards come together to make a final decision on the way forward for hospital services in the county.

Dr Povey said it is hoped the meeting will take place on January 29, however NHS England firstly needs to be fully assured that everything is in place to make the final decision.

The Future Fit plans involve separating emergency and planned care in the county.

The proposals would see a single emergency centre for Shropshire based at either Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or Telford's Princess Royal Hospital, supported by urgent care centres at both sites.

Up to £312 million has been earmarked for the proposed changes.
