Oswestry dentist could close

An NHS dentist in Oswestry could close over difficulty in recruiting dentists.

My Dentist in Willow street opened several years ago with five dentists but now has just one working out of its premises in Willow Street in the town centre.

There have been rumours that the practice will close in April.

However a statement from the company, which has branches across the UK, says that closure is only a possibility.

A spokesman said: "Like many other dental practices in the area we face the challenge of increased running costs preventing us from operating sustainably and difficulty in recruiting dentists. Because of this, we are considering a number of options for the practice, one of which being its potential closure.

“The practice is operating as normal and we will keep all patients updated of any changes.”

A spokesperson for NHS England (North Midlands) said: “We are working with local dental service providers to make sure patients are able to continue to access NHS dental services."
