The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (Sath), which manages the hospital, has applied to Telford & Wrekin Council for planning permission.

Health bosses say it will be used to treat day surgery patients.

The plans state that the temporary building would be on site for 13 weeks.

Neil Rogers, interim assistant chief operating officer for scheduled care at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “We have put in a planning application for a unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford for a period of three months.

“This unit is an integrated theatre and ward step down area which would be used to treat day surgery patients as an additional measure to help reduce our waiting times.”

A decision on the planning application will be made by Telford & Wrekin Council in the upcoming months.
