Bridgnorth NHS worker commended for 42 years service
A health worker with more than four decades in the NHS has been recognised with a prestigious award.
Hazel Gregory, team leader at Bridgnorth Hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit, has spent 42 years in the NHS, with 36 years working at Bridgnorth Community Hospital.
Her work has been recognised with a Mayor’s Award for 2020/21, for a lifetime’s vocation in selflessly caring for others in the community.
Bridgnorth's MP Philip Dunne was joined by Bridgnorth West & Tasley representative, Councillor Les Winwood, to congratulate Hazel in person shortly after mayor Kirstie Hurst-Knight surprised her with the award.
Mr Dunne said: "This year has shown just how fortunate we are to have so many committed, hardworking professionals in our NHS, not only here in Shropshire but across the country.
"Hazel is a prime example of that community-minded dedicated service, with 42 years in the NHS, 36 of which have been here at Bridgnorth Hospital.
"I am so pleased her work has been recognised with the Mayor’s Award for Lifetime Service, and congratulate her wholeheartedly.”
Councillor Winwood added: “Hazel’s work for Bridgnorth community over the past 36 years is a real inspiration, and I was very pleased to be able to congratulate her on this well-deserved award.
"She is one of a brilliant cohort of hardworking NHS staff keeping our community safe and healthy, who all have our thanks.”
