Liz Ritchings from Market Drayton is training hard for her massive effort, which she is putting herself through to raise money for the Severn Hospice.

Severn Hospice in Telford cared for Brett Heslop, her father, in the last few days of his life. He died aged just 56 in November.

"We as a family wanted to give something back," said Liz.

"The standard of care my dad had was just amazing.

"Earlier this year I decided I wanted to give myself some sort of challenge."

She began training every other day for her challenge on April 10, and started an online fundraiser – which has already seen more than £1,250 donated.

"People have been more than generous. We want to thank people as much as anything for their generosity."

The fundraiser said: "Severn Hospice is with families from the moment they're referred to its care for as long as they need it, and it does this every day, all day for anyone in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who needs that help.

"It does this for them for free, but it is not without cost and it can't happen without you.

"For every £1 you donate, they will spend 86p directly on care – and use the remaining 14p to make another £1.

"Last year, all those individual donations helped us provide £9.88 million of caring services."
