Former super-middleweight world champion Richie, who lives in Telford, has raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities over the past five years by auctioning and raffling off items of sporting memorabilia.

They were won by Will Dorrell, who runs Hoo Farm in Telford.

Proceeds from the latest raffle, organised by Richie's friend Lee Ellis, will go the Jayne Sargent Foundation which provides a range of support services for cancer patients in the county.

Richie, who launched a fundraising campaign in memory of his father Len in 2015, said he was delighted the pads had raised much-needed funds for a worthy cause.

He said: "A big thank-you to Lee for organising it all and everyone who bought tickets as raising money for charity is extremely difficult in these times.

"It will go towards helping people with cancer and the Jayne Sargent Foundation is a marvellous charity."

The Jayne Sargent Foundation was set up by by Colin Sargent in memory of his late wife. It organises regular meetings where people can get support and advice about their condition.

Richie said it was a charity close to his heart after he got to know a couple of the people involved following one of his previous charity auctions.

He added: “The Jayne Sargent Foundation is a brilliant Shropshire-based charity that gives tremendous support to people and their families living with cancer.

“They meet every month which can be very comforting and try to improve services in our area for people who are affected.”

Lee is now raffling off a boxing glove signed by Richie in aid of the family of newborn Ciaran Morris, who was killed when a car collided with his pram in Brownhills, near Walsall, on Easter Sunday.
