Coronavirus death toll in Shropshire hospitals passes 400
The number of Covid deaths at hospitals in Shropshire has reached another grim milestone, passing the 400 mark.
Figures released by NHS England on Saturday confirmed another eight people in the county have died with the virus, taking the toll to 406.
Seven of the eight people died while in the care of Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), with the other patient dying at Shropshire Community Health Trust.
It means that 376 people have now died with the virus at SaTH, 24 at the community health trust, and six at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.
There have also been 161 Covid deaths in care homes in the Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin boroughs, as well as 160 deaths in all settings in Powys.
Meanwhile the Government confirmed that the total number of deaths for the UK had risen by 1,348 to 97,329 on Saturday.
