Nine more Covid deaths at Shropshire hospitals
Another nine people have died with Covid at Shropshire's major hospitals.
The latest deaths, announced by NHS England on Saturday, take the total number of people to have died with the virus at county NHS trusts to 449.
All nine of the deaths announced today came at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).
The nine deaths were part of the overall 681 deaths in England to be announced by NHS England. It bring the total to 71,226.
In Shropshire the tragic loss of life has included 419 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals, 24 at Shropshire Community Health Trust and six at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital.
According to the Office for National Statistics, 227 people have also died in county care homes.
The ONS also shows that 173 people have now died with the virus in Powys.
An NHS England spokesman said: "A further 681 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 71,226.
"Patients were aged between 18 and 101 years old. All except 23 (aged 47 to 92 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
"Date of death ranges from 11 November 2020 to 29 January 2021.
"Their families have been informed.
