Another 19 Covid deaths have been confirmed in Shropshire.

Another 19 Covid deaths have been confirmed by the government

The latest figures show that a further eight people have died while in the care of Shropshire NHS trusts, while another 11 have died in county care homes.

NHS England figures show that seven more patients have died with Covid at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), while another person has also died at Shropshire Community Health Trust.

The weekly figures, which show the number of people to have died in care homes, reveal that there have been another seven deaths in the Shropshire Council area, and four in the Telford & Wrekin area.

It means that 494 people have now died with Covid at county NHS trusts – 459 at SaTH, six at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry, and 29 at Shropshire Community Health Trust.

There have also been a total of 257 care home deaths – 190 in the Shropshire Council area, and 67 in Telford & Wrekin.

Office for National Statistics data also shows that 189 people have now died with Covid in Powys.

The overall UK death toll rose by 1,052 today, with the total now 113,850.

Government data also shows that 12,646,486 people have now received their first vaccination, with 516,392, having received their second dose.
