Covid death toll for Shropshire NHS trusts passes 500

The number of Covid deaths at county NHS trusts has passed 500.

NHS England said that another six people had died at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) and one at Shropshire Community Health Trust

It means that the death toll for the county's NHS trusts has now reached 501 – 465 at SaTH, 30 at the community health trust, and six at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

There have also been a total of 257 care home deaths in the county – 190 in the Shropshire Council area, and 67 in Telford & Wrekin.

Office for National Statistics data also shows that 189 people have now died with Covid in Powys.

Another 1,001 deaths across the UK were confirmed by the government, taking the total death toll to 114,851.

The number of people who have received the first dose of the Covid vaccine is now 13,058,298, with 519,553 people having had their second dose.
