Further 18 coronavirus deaths in Shropshire and Mid Wales

A further 18 coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in Shropshire and Mid Wales.

NHS England confirmed two of the patients died in the care of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), which runs Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Telford Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

A further 16 people have died with the virus in Powys, bringing the total there to 217, according to the Office for National Statistics.

It means that 529 people have now died with Covid-19 at Shropshire's NHS trusts since the pandemic began.

A further 268 people have died in the county’s care homes.

Figures, released today, show a further 309 patients with coronavirus have died at hospitals in England – 81 of those were in the Midlands.

It brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 80,424.
