Another four covid deaths confirmed in Shropshire hospitals

Another four people have died with Covid at Shropshire's major hospitals.

NHS England confirmed that the patients had died while in the care of Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).

It means that 548 people have now died with Covid at county NHS trusts – 508 at SaTH, seven at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry, and 33 at Shropshire Community Health Trust.

Figures show that 278 people have also died in the county's care homes – 205 in Shropshire and 73 in Telford & Wrekin.

According to figures from the Office for National Statistics 217 people have now also died with the virus in Powys.

A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 302 people, who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 82,156.

"Patients were aged between 32 and 103 years old. All except 14 – aged 32 to 91 years old – had known underlying health conditions."
