Two more Shropshire Covid deaths confirmed

Another two people have died with Covid while in the care of Shropshire NHS trusts.

NHS England has confirmed that two more people have died with Covid in the county

NHS England confirmed that one patient had died at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), and another at Shropshire Community Health Trust.

It means that 550 people have now died with Covid at county NHS trusts – 509 at SaTH, 34 at the community health trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that the number of people to have died in county care homes with Covid had reached 278.

In Powys 224 people have died with Covid since the pandemic began, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Official vaccination figures today also reveal that 159,567 vaccine doses had been given in the county by the end of last week, which included more than 104,000 over 65s who have had their first jab.

Across England, 15,441,149 vaccine doses had been administered.
