Market Drayton 10k hopeful of a race in 2021
The organisers of one of Shropshire's biggest 10k's have confirmed that the 2021 race will be postponed because of coronavirus, but it could take place later this year.
Market Drayton 10k chief Tim Beckett said: "As you will have seen from the latest Government announcement, the provisional date of Sunday, May 9, 2021, cannot happen as events are still not allowed until June 21 at the earliest – so unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the event again.
"The good news is the race can take place this year so will be happening.
"We have a lot of things to sort before we can announce the new 2021 date as many races have already been moved and September is already full, August is holiday time so the likely date is going to be in October 2021, exact date to be confirmed.
"We can also confirm the date for the 2022 race will be Sunday, May 8.
"I will update over the next few weeks once we have all the plans in place as we need to sort out deferrals procedures etc for those that can’t do this years new date, so please bear with us while we put these plans in place so I can come back with all details."
