WATCH: How Eccleshall is weathering the pandemic

Eccleshall, near Stafford, is known in normal times for the spirited atmosphere of its vibrant town centre brought to life by its pubs, bars and other hospitality businesses.

As with other towns across the country, the Covid-19 pandemic and the safety restrictions it has required have had an effect on Eccleshall.

Many of the town’s businesses have been forced to temporarily close their doors, events have been unable to take place, and Eccleshall’s once busy streets are now far quieter.

Here we take a look at how the town has changed since the coronavirus crisis hit, how the Eccleshall of 2021 compares to the days before Covid, and how much of its once lively atmosphere has, at least for the time being, evaporated.
