One further Covid death at Shropshire hospitals

One further patient has died with Covid-19 at Shropshire's major hospitals.

NHS England confirmed today the patient died while in the care of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, which runs the county's two acute hospitals – Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Telford's Princess Royal Hospital.

The death means the total number of people to have died with coronavirus at county NHS trusts is now 583.

Of the total, 542 have been recorded at SaTH, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

A total of 287 people have died with Covid-19 at Shropshire care homes, according to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures.

Nationally, a further 118 people have died with the virus, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 85,185.

Patients were aged between 37 and 99 years old.

All except eight, aged 55 to 96 years old, had known underlying health conditions.

Of the 118 deaths, 26 were recorded in the Midlands.
