Eight more deaths confirmed in Shropshire hospitals and care homes
Two more patients have died with Covid-19 at Shropshire's major hospitals, while a further six people have died in county care homes, in figures released today.
NHS England today confirmed the patients had died while in the care of Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) which runs Royal Shrewsbury and Telford’s Princess Royal hospitals. The total number of hospital reported deaths is at 547.
In the Shropshire Council area a total of 217 care home deaths from coronavirus have been reported. No new care home deaths have been reported in Telford & Wrekin, where the total remains at 76.
In Powys, there have been 242 deaths reported, according to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS).
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 101 people, who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 85,411.
"Patients were aged between 37 and 96 years old. All except two – aged 62 to 70 years old – had known underlying health conditions.
"Date of death ranges from January 1, to March 15, with the majority being on or after March 12.
"Their families have been informed."
Meanwhile, 22,284,040 coronavirus vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.
In the Midlands, 4,139,979 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 194,516 second doses have been carried out.
The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and March 15.
