No county covid hospital deaths for 18 days

There have now been no Covid deaths at the county's major hospitals for 18 days.

The latest figures show the last Covid death at a county NHS trust was on March 21.

The latest figures from NHS England show that the most recent Covid death at a county health trust came on March 21.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) also show that there have been no further Covid care home deaths in the county announced this week.

It means that the current Covid death toll at county NHS trusts remains 595 – 554 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

According to the ONS 294 people have died in county care homes with Covid – 219 in the Shropshire Council area, and 77 in the Telford & Wrekin Council area.

Figures also show that 262 people have died with the virus in Powys.

It comes as another 53 people across the UK died with Covid, taking the overall death toll to 126,980.
