No new Covid deaths in Shropshire

A further 20 coronavirus deaths were reported in the UK today, 18 of them in England.

Wales and Northern Ireland both recorded one death each of a person within 28 days of a positive Covid test.

No further deaths were reported in Shropshire or Powys. To date there have been 595 deaths with Covid at Shropshire's NHS trusts – 554 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that 296 people have also died with the virus at county care homes – 219 in Shropshire and 77 in Telford & Wrekin.

The date of the last reported death in a Shropshire or Telford & Wrekin care home was March 23, according to the ONS.

In Powys 268 people are confirmed as having died with Covid since the pandemic began.

Latest Government figures say that 35,587,348 people have received their first dose of the Covid vaccine.
