Toddle Waddle to raise cash for Bridgnorth's Rupert - with pictures
It is a cause that has brought the whole of Bridgnorth.
And this weekend saw some of the youngest members of the community do their bit to raise money for Rupert's Revenge.
Families took to the streets of the town for a Toddle Waddle to raise money for six-year-old Rupert Beckett, whose family are trying to raise funds for him to have pioneering immunotherapy in America.
Rupert, a student at Castlefields Primary School, was diagnosed with stage-four high-risk neuroblastoma at the age of three and has already had two years of chemotherapy, but now needs treatment in America, totalling £750,000.
The community has rallied together and in just a couple of months, has hit 10 per cent of the target.
Mother Meria Price, 32, organised the walk, which brought together mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and grandparents to take part.
Starting from Bridgnorth's Castle Walk, it finished at AFC Bridgnorth United's Crown Meadow Car Park, where even more people turned up to enjoy a family fun day, all with donations going towards Rupert's Revenge.
On the day there was face painting, crafts, inflatable fun, donkey rides, ice cream and refreshments from Knickerbockers plus a visit from Bridgnorth Fire Service.
Meria is mother to Amber and Chloe who both attend Castlefields Primary School.
She said: "It has been lovely, we've had a great turn out, lots of people have come for the walk and even more came just to Crown Meadow.
"We wanted to do it because it is just one of those things where you think, what if it was my son? We know the family and we have met Rupert multiple times and he is just such a beautiful boy."
She said the community had been hugely supportive of Rupert and his family.
She said: "Even the businesses, you tell them that you are raising money for Rupert and they are so generous. People at the Crown Meadow are giving all the proceeds to the charity."
Also taking part in the walk was a Rupert the Bear and Elsa from Frozen.
Joining in was John Perry, 29, and his sister-in-law Danielle Binner, 24.
Danielle and John's brother Jamie have a one-year-old son called Arthur, who was being carried on John's shoulders.
Danielle said that, as parents, they had been inspired to do their bit to help Rupert.
John himself is a parent to two-year-old Oliver. He said he hoped even more people would offer to help.
He said: "If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would give them what they needed.
"It is a little boy's life."
