Pictures From The Past - October 6Welcome to this week's collection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.By Toby NealPublished Oct 6, 2017Last updated Oct 6, 2017 CommentsHere is Bettisfield Park in all its glory. We say all its glory because only the part of the building on the left still stands. When the other parts were demolished, we don't know, but there was an unsuccessful planning application to demolish the building completely in 1980, and it later underwent a major and expensive restoration. This picture comes from the family albums of Sir Beville Stanier, and the handwritten caption is: "Sir Wyndham & Lady Hanmer, Aug 1910. Col & Mrs Howard, J & V Hanmer, Mrs Boyce & S.C.S., B.S." This may indicate the hosts and guests at a 1910 social event - S.C.S. is Sir Beville's grandmother Sarah Constance Stanier, and B.S. his namesake grandfather.
