These soldiers under the command of Shropshire's Sir Alexander Stanier were defending the East Coast from invasion in the Walton and Frinton area. Sir Alexander was brought up at Peplow Hall. The picture - the soldiers are from the Suffolk Regiment - was loaned by his son, Sir Beville Stanier.
