The general election and the subsequent uncertainty has dominated the headlines. Shropshire played its part, with big crowds turning out for Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn – although the county returned an all-blue set of MPs.

The heavy snow of December is still fresh in our minds. It brought chaos to our roads and allowed schoolchildren an extra couple of days off.

Our summer started with a heatwave and ended with grey skies and rain. The mixed weather didn’t prevent the county’s rich mix of events to thrive as usual, with flowers in the Quarry, jets at Cosford and live music both at Shrewsbury Town and Walcot Hall.

Our iconic Iron Bridge was wrapped up and is undergoing a facelift, while Aga said goodbye to the Gorge.
