Let's divert our thoughts from you-know-what by celebrating with a wedding. This picture was emailed in by Janet Preshous, of South West Shropshire Historical & Archaeological Society. "It was an occasion of rejoicing just after the horrors of the Great War," she says. "Dr Selwyn Hale Puckle was Mayor of Bishop's Castle in 1899 and 1910 to 1914. One hundred years ago, on April 23, 1919, the marriage of Joan Warner and George Puckle took place at Bishop's Castle Parish Church. The bride was the daughter of the vicar, the Rev C. E. Warner, and the bridegroom was the third son of the doctor and former Mayor of Bishop's Castle, Dr Selwyn Hale Puckle, so the occasion was attended by a great many townspeople. Duncan Robertson, grandson of George Puckle, has let us have the photos of the happy gathering in the vicarage garden."
