This print from our archive was taken on August 27, 1964, and handwritten on the back is: "Alberbury School, which is due to close – villagers petitioning against this." Their objections did not bear fruit, as Alberbury School closed in 1965 – according to one former pupil the exact date was April 9 that year. The building is still there today, albeit a little modified.
