A man's protest? A feminist message? "No Man's Land?" was daubed on this unidentified Shrewsbury street at the time of the Queen's coronation in 1953. This picture is from the Geoff Charles Collection held at the National Library of Wales, and is among Charles' photos of Shrewsbury coronation celebrations. No explanation is given, but it is perhaps relevant that the Queen succeeded a King, her father (and, of course, a man).
