Pictures From The Archive – August 27.Welcome to this week's selection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.By Toby NealPublished Aug 27, 2021Is this the oldest picture of Market Drayton? It is Cheshire Street, and on the right is the Royal Oak Inn, and on the left is the Drovers Arms, where the licensee is "Roden." If this really is the oldest picture it may be from around the 1850s and although there doesn't appear to be anybody about, that is deceptive as they may not have stood still long enough to be captured by the long exposure times needed by the photography of the day.
