Pictures From The Archives – February 4Welcome to this week's selection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.By Toby NealPublished Feb 4, 2022May he rest in peace. This postcard from the collection of Ray Farlow of Bridgnorth has no details apart from that it is a funeral in Prees of an RAF officer. However it may well be the funeral in the village in July 1921 of Flight-Officer Horace Norman Young, whose parents lived at Fairview, Prees, who drowned on leave when taking a dip in a river at Polebrook, Northamptonshire. He was a hero of the Great War, having won the Distinguished Flying Cross and bar (a second award of the DFC), and being severely wounded.
