Folk and political icon Joan Baez to play Birmingham
Folk singer and political activist icon Joan Baez will play for fans in Birmingham next year.
The Staten Island star, now aged 76, began her career in 1958 and has released more than 30 albums.
Songs she is best known for include Diamonds and Rust; Farewell, Angelina; Love Is Just A Four-Letter Word, Forever Young and We Shall Overcome.

Joan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7 this year.
The singer is also known for her songs of protest and activism in areas such as nonviolence, civil rights, human rights and the environment. She played 14 songs at the 1969 Woodstock Festival.
Joan protested against the wars in Vietnam and Iraq. She has also fought in favour of gay rights, against logging of ancient redwoods; and the Civil Rights Movement in America - to name but a few.

She was honoured by Amnesty International at its 50th Anniversary Annual General Meeting in San Francisco in 2011.
Joan also had a relationship with Bob Dylan, protester David Harris and Steve Jobs.
The star will play the Symphony Hall on Wednesday, March 14.
