Tennis commentator heads for Shrewsbury
Tennis broadcaster David Law will be guest speaker at a sports dinner at The Shrewsbury Club next week.
A limited number of tickets remain for the event on February 16, to be held on the eve of the Sundorne Road venue hosting the final of the $25,000 men’s Budgen Motors GB Pro-Series tournament the following afternoon.
He is an experienced tennis commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live and BT Sport, covering more than 50 Grand Slam tournaments and describing the last five men’s singles finals at Wimbledon. He also presents a popular weekly tennis podcast with Eurosport’s Catherine Whitaker.
He will be the latest high-profile tennis speaker to head to The Shrewsbury Club following successful visits from Judy Murray, John Inverdale and Annabel Croft.
Dave Courteen, the managing director of The Shrewsbury Club, said: “David is an accomplished public speaker with lots of interesting stories to tell after so many years involved with tennis at the highest level. He’s looking forward to coming to The Shrewsbury Club and it promises to be another very enjoyable evening.”
Qualifying for the Budgen Motors GB Pro-Series tournament starts at The Shrewsbury Club on Sunday, with the main draw matches getting under way next Tuesday . Admission is free to watch world class tennis throughout the week.
The remaining tickets for the sports dinner are available priced £35 for a three-course meal and coffee, or £350 for a table of 10, which includes two complimentary bottles of wine.
