Martyn Wells began his trek on September 1 in Plynlimon in Wales, and finished on September 10 at Severn Beach in Bristol. The route took him through Shropshire on September 5. To date, Martyn has raised £33,000 for Macmillan, with donations still coming in.

Martyn, from Worcestershire, completed his final day with colleagues from Wright Hassall solicitors in Leamington Spa.

In March 2017, Martyn was diagnosed with stage two melanoma. Since then, Martyn’s condition has progressed, and he now has stage four melanoma. Earlier this year, doctors discovered tumours in Martyn’s stomach. It was therefore decided he needed to have his stomach removed. Despite this, Martyn was determined to complete the challenge.

Martyn said: "I hope I have inspired other cancer patients and their families to see that life with cancer is still a life, and that life goes on. Having a stage four cancer diagnosis should not stop you from achieving things you’ve only ever dreamed of."

Martyn wanted to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support to thank them for the support he has received since being diagnosed.

Martyn added: "My family and I have always had such fantastic support from Macmillan, from the moment I was diagnosed, and I wanted to do something to show them my gratitude. I hope the money this walk has raised goes a long way to providing Macmillan services that other patients and their families can benefit from."

Nikki James, regional fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: "What Martyn has achieved is truly inspiring. His determination, positivity and resilience never ceases to amaze me. We are pleased to have been able to support Martyn from the moment he was diagnosed and hope to continue supporting him for as long as he needs us.

"The incredible amount of money he has raised will enable us to continue supporting local people living with cancer, like Martyn, in the future. There are not enough words to explain how grateful we are for all he has done."
