Covid figures show three new deaths

There have been three new deaths in the country due to Covid, according to the latest Government figures.

The latest sombre update shows that the deaths came within 28 days of a positive Covid test.

In Shropshire the most recent death from the virus at a county hospital was on March 21.

To date a total of 595 people have died with Covid at county NHS trusts – 554 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

Figures from the ONS show that 296 people have died with the virus at county care homes – 219 in Shropshire and 77 in Telford & Wrekin.

In Powys 268 people are confirmed as having died with Covid since the pandemic began.

The number of vaccinations in the UK has reached 57,855,958 – 36,985,505 first doses, and 20,870,453 second doses.
