Shropshire on flood alert as rain continues to cause high river levels
Flood alerts are in place in Shropshire and Mid Wales, with warnings of more rain to come on Sunday.
The Environment Agency had put out a flood alert for the Severn Vyrnwy confluence stretching from Llanymynech through north west Shropshire to Pentre, north of Shrewsbury.
Across the Shropshire Wales border there are flood alerts in place for the Upper Severn as it flows from Llanidloes through Newtown and Welshpool into Shropshire and for the Vyrnwy catchment in the hills between Oswestry and Welshpool.

Alerts are also in place on the River Dee, including at Bangor-on-Dee and skirting the Shropshire border.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are checking defences."
