The handmade sample dresses were taken from My Little Wedding Shop in Castle Terrace.

The dresses were unique and had been designed and made by the team at My Little Wedding Shop.

Jennifer Bone, owner of the shop, said that should make them easy to identify.

"Our wedding dresses are unique so if you do see any of these dresses for sale anywhere, please do let the police know," she said.

"For us it is not just the value of the materials but the hours it takes to create each dress. We are going to have to remake every dress from scratch, which is hundreds of hours of work for myself and my team.”

Jennifer said that brides-to-be would not have to worry about the break-in.

"I would like to assure all of our brides that your dress is safe as we keep all of our bride orders and brides alterations dresses locked up at a separate secure location," she said.

The break-in happened last Thursday at about 11.30pm.

In the time since, hundreds of people have offered their support to the shop.

Jennifer said she really appreciated the community coming together.

“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been in touch about this," she said. "I am overwhelmed with the messages of support we have received and I would specifically like to thank PC Evans and colleagues for their speedy response and support.”

In the week since the dresses were stolen, 41,000 people have seen the post on Facebook, with 511 people sharing it in the search for the culprits.

The shop also received support from S.M Carpentry & Crafts. The business worked into the night to make sure a new door was installed the following day.

The shop has since reopened as usual.

Anybody offered a dress for less than expected, or anybody who has information about the break-in, is asked to call police on 101 citing reference number 22/18557/19.
