Why life in the slow lane is perfect for Bridgnorth cyclist
A Bridgnorth cyclist's calls for riders to hop aboard their saddles for pleasure have been answered by more than 30 like-minded riders.
Bike nut Colin Smith, 72, wanted to see the countryside in style and with fellow touring cyclists.
After trying various groups, including a road biking and mountain biking club, he found they were too fast-paced and put out an appeal for an informal group that now sees him coasting through the county every week.
Having received a number of replies, Dennis now rides with a group of more than 30-strong.
"This group has been ideal for me," he said. I have just moved back to Bridgnorth after being away for 20 years and it's given me a chance to meet people, reconnect with the community.
"It gets me out and about and keeps me fit, and there's always an incentive as I know there will be at least five or six other people there to ride with.

Colin, who now lives in High Town, was always a keen cyclist, riding through Johannesburg when he was in South Africa as an electrical distributor and being part of a similar group during his time in Derbyshire. He became hooked, and is now continuing his passion throughout Shropshire.
"I tried a few different groups, the road cycling was too quick and fast-paced, and the off-road group were way out of my league, although both very friendly, so I needed to find something more suitable.
"I got a good number of responses from my article in the paper and then I found this group. We stop off at a cafe or pub for breakfast and a few drinks along the way, it's not too strenuous and we get to really appreciate the countryside.
"It's a great social event as well as a way to stay in shape."
