Lorry driver saves three people trapped in car on side of Shropshire riverbank
Three people trapped in a car which crashed down a bank in Shropshire were rescued thanks to a lorry driver who strapped the car to his truck.
The car rolled over and ended up on its side on a riverbank on the B4555 near Highley at about 8.15am on Thursday.
Despite the precarious situation nobody was injured - thanks to the driver's reaction.
He took straps out and secured the car to his lorry with them to stop it from falling down from the trees.
Firefighters then worked to release them from the car and stabilised the vehicle.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said that staff assessed all three patients with each one discharged from ambulance care at the scene.
A Shrewsbury Police spokesman said: "The occupants of this car had a very lucky escape, thanks to the quick thinking and actions of a passing lorry driver, who having witnessed the crash, strapped the precariously balanced car to his truck until Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived and freed the trapped occupants."
The fire service sent two crews from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Wellington to the scene along with an operations officer and the rescue tender and used a winch and rope hoist to stabilise the car.
