Van driver taken to hospital as air ambulance sent to lorry crash

A man was taken to hospital after a crash between a lorry and a van near Bridgnorth.

The air ambulance was sent to the scene on the B4176 Folley Road at Ackleton along with four fire engines after reports a casualty was trapped.

The van driver received oxygen at the scene before being taken to hospital in Wolverhampton but is not thought to have been seriously injured.

The crash happened at around 7.30am between Chesterton Golf Club and Folley Road and the road was closed while the incident was dealt with.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said : “We were called at 7:35am to reports of an accident involving a lorry and van on the B4176 from Folley Road.

"We sent an ambulance, paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.

"We have treated the driver of the van, a man, for injuries not believed to be serious. He’s been conveyed to New Cross Hospital for further treatment.”

Firefighters from Bridgnorth, Tweedale and Wellington were sent.
