Ban for driver fearful of rural criminals after dirty truck leads to roadside breath test

A motorist was found to be twice the legal drink drive limit after police pulled his vehicle over due to it being 'covered in mud' as he went to check on his workplace during the early hours of the morning, a court heard.

Ryan Ward of High Street, Highley had been visiting his work premises after his mobile phone received a message that the alarm was going off, Telford Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old was at home relaxing when his phone went off in the “early hours” of February 15 this year when the message was received, the court heard.

Ms Sara Beddow, prosecuting, said that during his journey, police took an interest in Ward's Nissan Navara due to it being “covered in mud” and officers decided to follow it.
