Yachtsman and advisor on The Crown to explain why Britannia ruled the waves at society meeting

A former naval man who served on the Royal Yacht Britannia is to a guest speaker at a Shropshire historical society meeting.

David Rushforth served in the Royal Navy, includiing a period on HMY Britannia and is to give an illustrated talk entitled “Life on Board the Royal Yacht” at the next meeting of the Bridgnorth Historical Society.

Since leaving the Royal Navy he has been an active member of the Association of Royal Yachtsmen and regards his entire Britannia experience fascinating and well worth sharing.

He was also the advisor for Netflix series The Crown, when the show involved the Royal Yacht.

His talk, which includes the evolution, development, operation and subsequent demise of the Royal Yacht and the effects it had on the Royal Family, will be at the November meeting of the Bridgnorth Historical Society to be held on Monday, November 18 in the Community Centre Bridgnorth.

The talk starts at 7.30 pm and all visitors are welcome at an admission of £5.
