Instead of new dolls and electronic games, seven-year-old Teigan Ward, who attends Brockton Primary School near Much Wenlock, asked her party guests to give cash and as a result she has raised more than £500 for her efforts.

The cash is being donated to the Midlands Air Ambulance Service.

At her latest birthday bash held earlier this month at The Plume and Feathers Pub in Harley, she collected £290 and last year she collected £320.

In 2017 her efforts were rewarded with a visit to the school, in Brockton, by a representatives from the charity who attend a special cheque presentation while a paramedic gave a talk to her classmates.

Teigan decided to help out the service after her grandmother Jennifer James, of Ludlow, took ill while on holiday in Cornwall where she was airlifted to Truro Hospital.

Her mother Siouxsie Ward says: "Teigan had a fantastic party that was attended by about 25 children and their parents plus family members. We had a disco and there was a collection wishing well placed at the bar for the adults to make donations to boost the total."
