Fire service reminder after unattended 'controlled burn' feared to be caravan blaze
Firefighters are reminding people never to leave fires unattended, after they rushed out to what they believed to be a caravan on fire in a Shropshire village.
Crews were called out to Acton Burnell, between Shrewsbury and Much Wenlock, at about 6.50pm on Tuesday after receiving reports that a motor home had caught fire.
Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service (SFRS) sent one appliance and crews from Much Wenlock and Tweedale fire stations, who found the blaze to be a 'controlled burn' in a field.
Crews extinguished the blaze and reminded residents to not leave fires unattended.
A spokesman from Much Wenlock Fire Station said they were "mobilised by SFRS Control to reports of a caravan fire which turned out to be an unattended controlled burn".
They added that "a controlled burn that is unattended cannot be controlled".
