Woman, 88, seriously injured at Kingswinford Co-op car park

An elderly woman was seriously injured today after being in a collision with a car at the back of Kingswinford's Co-op.

The victim, 88, suffered 'very serious leg and pelvic injuries' the incident, involving a Nissan Note, at the back of the store off Market Street at around 10.05am.

The Midlands Air Ambulance and other paramedic vehicles were scrambled.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found an 88-year-old woman who had suffered very serious leg and pelvic injuries.

“Ambulance staff and the doctors worked on her at the scene to stabilise her condition. She received pain relief and had her legs splinted before she was taken by land ambulance on blue lights to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham; the doctors travelled with the ambulance crew.

“The driver of the car, a 75-year-old woman was assessed at the scene. She was suffering from shock but was discharged after treatment.”
