Firefighters sent to Rodney's Pillar grass blaze
Firefighters were battling a grass blaze on the top of a Mid Wales tourist hotspot this afternoon.
A Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew were called to Rodney's Pillar, a popular spot for tourists and walkers between Welshpool and Llanymynech.
Firefighters were called at around 12.04pm and are currently unsure how the fire began.
The crew was sent from Welshpool and stayed at the scene for around two hours.
Crews in Ceredigion were also called to a large grass fire on Tuesday, as temperatures soared across Wales.
Firefighters were sent to the blaze near Cwm Rheidol at about 11.30am, with firefighters damping down the blaze amidst sweltering temperatures.
Meanwhile fire chiefs in Greater Manchester have requested help from the Army to battle a vast moorland blaze which has raged for days.
Around 100 firefighters are tackling seven separate fronts of fire in an area believed to cover 6km across moorland in Tameside after a number of homes had to be evacuated as a safety precaution on Tuesday night.
