Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon cancelled for second year
The popular Lake Vyrnwy Half marathon has been cancelled for the second year in a row.
The event is organised by volunteers and sees competitors run from the community hall to the reservoir to complete the 11-mile lap of the lake before returning to the finish line to complete the 13.1 miles.
Over the years it has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the local community.
Chairman of the organising committee, David Thomas, said that although restrictions were being lifted with 1,500 runners taking part, it had been difficult to see how it could go ahead in September.
"We have taken the reluctant decision to cancel the race again this year," he said.
"We are looking forward to staging the race in 2020."
The half marathon was started by the late Doug Morris of Oswestry Olympians, a well-known marathon runner.
