Cliff fall man treated for serious injuries

A man was today being treated for serious injuries after falling from cliffs on the Powys and Shropshire border.

He was airlifted to hospital after falling at Llanymynech Rocks on Monday afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance service received the first reports at 5pm.

The service was informed that a man had fallen from cliffs in the Llanymynech area, near to Llanymynech Golf Club.

An emergency ambulance was deployed to the scene, along with a Wales Air Ambulance.

The man was then airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called just after 5pm last night to reports a man had fallen from cliffs in the Llanymynech area of Powys.

"We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, where the crew were also supported by Community First Responders and a Wales Air Ambulance.

"A man was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries."

Llanymynech Rocks is a former quarry next to Llanymynech Golf Club, just off the A483 between Llanymynech and Pant.

Managed by Shropshire and Montgomery Wildlife Trusts, the nature reserve is open to the public and is popular with both walkers and climbers.
