Emergency services were called to the B4385 Pool Road, the main road through the Powys town after reports of water pouring down the main road.

Severn Trent Water was yesterday (WED) working to fix the major water leak.

The B4385 between Chirbury Road/The Pound and Gaol Road was closed, and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

@Welshpool Police posted on social media that it may take two to three days to repair.

The tweet said: "Road is closed between The Cottage/Gaol Rd Junction & Chirbury junction Nr the War Memorial due to a burst water main. estimated 2/3 days to repair. Diversions are being set up."

A spokeswoman from Hafren Dyfrdwy said: “We’re aware of a burst water pipe on Pool Road in Montgomery that may be causing some customers to have little or no water.

"We’re really sorry about this, our teams are in the area and will be working hard to get everyone’s water back on and the pipe fixed, as quickly as possible.”
